Stylistically, this reminds me a little of Wayne Barlowe. Awesome.

Never heard of this guy until it was mentioned here, and I'm glad it was. Amazing artist.

And yeah, you nailed his style spot-on. Not even sure if that's what you were even shooting for! Religious symbolism, delicious meat flaking off the bone, meticulous details. ur gr8

Okok, you complained in your journal that you don't get enough attention/comments, here you go, this is a comment like my art-friends irl would hear it C:.

This is quite cool. Texture and color is genius, I especially enjoy all the dry, flaky layers of skin or dead flesh around the ripped-throat. Together with those pointy fingernails and the nose and teeth part of the skull it creates this feeling of aggressive brittleness. Touch that thing and you will cut yourself.
How did you do those dead flesh/sharp bone parts? Is it all painted or did you use some textures/other tricks like transformed brushstrokes?

I see the connection with the church in the halo (with the blue sky behind it?) and the hands, what's the connection between the animal skull and the church, or is it random? (It looks for me like a deer skull. If it's a sheep head which looks similair I get the idea C:)

We associate the goat with the wayward or immoral (at least in comparison to the sheep) and yes, it is indeed a goat skull! The lack of jaw throws off people and makes the entire thing a bit more conspicuous, which I love!

The bone is just the basic Photoshop hard brush and patience. I purposefully did that to avoid an obvious digital visual solution. I used the skull as a reference, but simply kept in mind where the body would be. The rest sorted itself out naturally. :3

I've liked this pic of yours for some time, glad you finally posted it up here. It is rather powerful and you could take away several different interpretations of it. Because I am not religious and rather cynical I will keep my interpretation to myself, but that it would promote strong reactions in people is a good thing :-)

Awesome! Took you a while before posting anything in dA! Try the groups feature. It will help you reach your target audience better. ;) Search under grotesque, gothic, macabre or something like that. xD

You like that skull, don't you? What is it about it that draws you?

It's on my desk and it looks cool!

Seriously though, beyond that I can't explain much. I was drawing them even before I knew how to do so.
