Here is the inspiration for this image, if you can believe it. [link]
That is my really Italian grandfather. He used to bend metal into the decorative shapes, like those in this drawing. He gained notoriety through his excellent services while never spending a cent on advertising. Take that, graphic designers!
I think the textures I used are from Mayang and CGtexture, but I feel a bit silly crediting them, as the those layers are barely noticeable at all.
Your gallery is absolutely stunning. The character design and the old look of the images and the coloring is just - I literally don't have the vocabulary for it. I see some of your pictures have comments under two digits and that's just a crime. The weight in this picture is amazing.
I'm glad you think so! This was one of the first images where I tried not to be lazy in my combining digital and traditional, so I'm glad to hear your appreciating it!
This is pretty rad. I was CERTAIN that it was a photo of a mixed-media painting/drawing, because the texture looks so good. And the color schemes are quite pleasing to me eye. I barely even noticed that this was a unicorn (partially because it's brown, I suppose, but mainly because I was looking at all those cool curving shapes).
Meh, yeah, I'm not an art major but I do me best. I like this. The end.
One of the few pictures here with a strongly emotional background that tells the story of people and life. It'sgreat. And I was also thinking it was a traditional drawing, not a digital painting. Lovely piece.
